Château Rollan de By 2004, Medoc Cru Bourgeois

Made from grapes on vines of a noble age (more than 35 years old), behind its garnet robe, this wine boasts a nose dominated by a slight roasted note, which develops into intense fruitiness and gentle spiciness. A very delicate woody touch thanks to its ageing in new barrels brings an elegant and subtle sense of nobility.
On the palate, the wine signals its presence with a forthright attack, before becoming more velvety. Very appealing and with good breeding, it has a fine balance built around silky tannins. The aromatic persistence lingers as the wine finishes on hints of liquorice. Through retro-olfaction, the spices mix with jammy red fruits.
This very carefully crafted wine encapsulates the terroir of the Medoc by its virile grace, its unexaggerated power and tannic elegance.
Gourmets will without doubt see this wine as an accompaniment for stuffed quail, brochette of duck hearts grilled on vine shoots, with a fricassee of cep mushrooms.
